Hazardous Substance review and exposure assessment
of workers in the sculptured nail industry.
Our Involvment:
The project
involved an assessment of the procedures for storing, dispensing and
handling the various solvents and chemical used in the nail sculpturing
process with respect to the requirements of the Occupational Health
& Safety (Hazardous Substances) Regulations. The operators' exposure
to the chemicals was assessed during the various activities. The results
obtained were compared with Australian and International standards.
Recommendations were provided on appropriate handling, storage and
dispensing procedures. Advice was provided regarding the provision
of appropriate personal protective equipment and on the supply and
installation of local exhaust ventilation.
