Investigation and clean-up of an enclosed section
of the foundation cavity at the Birkenhead Shopping Centre. The
Centre, prior to its redevelopment in the 1970's, was a utilised
as a rubber manufacturing plant and the foundation cavity was contaminated
with carbon black material.
Our
Involvment:
Conducting an investigation in an enclosed
area of the foundation cavity of the building to assess the general
nature and the extent of the contamination. Determine the requirements,
and develop a methodology for clean-up and disposal of the waste.
Preparation of contact documentation and the technical specification
for the clean-up works. Assistance with the tender process and
selection of the contractor.
Gas free testing of pits and pressure vessels to be removed.
Atmospheric monitoring during the cutting up and removal of the
pressure vessel.
Development and execution of an air monitoring programme during
the works.
Organising and co-ordinating the removal and disposal of the
waste material.
