Workshops to identify and assess the Occupational Health & Safety
and Environmental Management risks
Our Involvment:
The purpose of the assessment was to identify
and assess the Occupational Health and Safety, and Environmental
Management issues associated with the Rail Services Australia operations
at the Bathurst Railway Workshops. The assessment covered a range
of occupational health and safety, and environmental including general
legislative compliance and 'Best Practice' principles, with the
objective of evaluating Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) performance
and identifying the obvious potential risks. The assessment included:
Review of the relevant site documentation outlining the objectives
and requirements SHE Management at the site.
Review of the Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Materials handling
and storage procedures at the site.
Review of the confined space entry practices at the site.
Examination of the Safe Work Permit system and MSDS database
available at the site.
Review of the staff amenities.
Examination of the site licences for legislative compliance.
Review of the housekeeping procedures and work practices on
the workshop floor.
Review of personal protective equipment programmes and hearing
conservation programme.
Walkthrough inspection of the site for visible evidence of
site contamination.
Review of the 'Lead Processes' conducted on site with respect
to compliance with the relevant regulations.
Examination of the machine guarding for compliance with the
regulations and Australian Standards.
Review of procedures for Certification of the lifting equipment
and slings.
Examination of the procedures for in-service
testing and tagging of electrical equipment.
